"The Elixir of Love" is a witty, engaging tale of the love-struck Nemorino and the magic elixir that will cure his shyness.  This live performance by the Portland Opera's touring troupe is an adapted, 
50-minute English-language version of the Italian comedic opera.  
It is a perfect opportunity for children to enjoy opera up close and live!

CelloBop



Composer and electric cellist Gideon Freudmann will perform a musical fusion of blues, jazz, folk, classical, rock, and more.  His music has been featured on "All Things Considered" on National Public Radio and the television series "Weeds".  Come enjoy this amazing one-man cello performance on Wednesday January 13th at 7 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room.  All ages are welcome to attend.

Holiday Concert

SUPER TUESDAY with Red Yarn, Deep Woods Naturalist

Calling all naturalists!  Come sing, dance, and laugh along with Red Yarn and his lovable puppet critters as they take you on a scientific journey into the deep woods!  This will be one delightful music concert and puppet show all rolled into one!  Join us on Tuesday July 22 at 4 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room.  All ages are welcome to attend.

Dancing With No Shoes On!

Children's musician, Chuck Cheesman will be joining us on Tuesday March 4th at 6:30 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room.  Chuck uses original and familiar songs to get families singing, dancing, wiggling and giggling together.  Dancing in your socks is optional!  A favorite program of both parents and kids.  And why not check out his kids CD, Dancing With no Shoes On before the show?

Symphony Storytime with Percussion

Our next Oregon Symphony special Symphony Storytime will be on January 29th with Gordon Rencher on percussion. He will add music to stories from the library, followed by an instrument "petting zoo". This story times will replace the previously scheduled Toddler Times on Wednesday morning. Please join us in the Burgess Community Room, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

Oregon Symphony Storytimes

Join us during the month of January as members from the Oregon Symphony will be providing special Symphony Storytimes!  Each story time will feature one of the four instrument families.  Each week an Oregon Symphony musician will add music to the stories that the library picked out just for the special occasion, and an instrument "petting zoo" follows each session.  These story times will replace the previously scheduled Toddler Times on Wednesday mornings.  All sessions will be held in the Burgess Community Room, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

Super Tuesday: Rock 'N' Roll Kindy

You can join a band on Tuesday July 23rd from 4-5 p.m. with Mo Phillips!  This super interactive rock 'n' roll show is all about creating music and having a good time.  Everyone will get to write and record a song with Mo Phillips by using you hands, body, and voice to sing and dance in silly ways.  It's going to be one spectacular jam-packed hour of music!

Jim Gill Family Concert

Join us on Wednesday November 7th at 7p.m. as we cheer on early literacy with award-winning author and musician Jim Gill, as he'll be traveling all the way from Chicago!  Music and play have never been so fun. We'll have a clapping, jumping, dancing good time. Be ready to move to the groove! WEEKEND ADVENTURE: Songs, Stories & Friends with Charlie Hope

Join us for our upcoming Weekend Adventure with Seattle-based musician, Charlie Hope on Sunday March 4th from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Community Room.  She will share catchy, hand-clapping original songs.  Her latest album, Songs, Stories & Friends: Let's Go Play! was named a 2011 Top Ten pick by Cool Mom Picks.  All ages are welcome and be sure to wear your dancing shoes!!!
