Summer Reading Books Suggestions for 2016

Parents, are you scratching your head wondering what your birth through 8th grader should read this summer?  The Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association has their annual Summer Reading Book List available online now!  Download a PDF color copy for yourself, or pick one up from the children's room at the library!  There's some really great books on these lists that you surely don't want to miss out on!

Kindergarten Registration

Don't forget....the last day to register your 5-year-old child for kindergarten at your local public school is June 1st, 2016.  Once you child has registered, have them wear their red TTSD t-shirt and stop by the children's desk in the library to pick up a special activity packet!  Check out this quick informational video posted on the WCCLS Facebook on how your can register your child:

Calling all newly registered Kindergartners!

The Tigard-Tualatin School District has already begun kindergarten registration for the 2016-2017 school year.  Is your soon-to-be kindergartner registered?  Did they get a cute red t-shirt saying that they've registered?  If so, have your child wear their TTSD shirt into the library and they will get a special prize!!!  This special prize is specifically put together just for newly registered kindergartners.  The prizes are comprised of activity folders that include stickers, pencils, make-your-own puppets, and lots of other age appropriate activities.  Only one prize folder per child, please!  If you have questions, please contact the children's desk at 503-718-2656.

Back to School Blues?

School is starts a week from today.  I can't believe summer is coming to an end.  Wow, time sure does fly!  Do you have some kiddos at home dreading going back to school in September?  Well, here's some fun picture books that just might help them get back into their regular school routine and make them excited to go back to class!
