Tualatin Valley Community Band Concert


Tualatin Valley Community Band presents "Songs of the Season" on Sunday October 30th, 2016 at 3-4 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room.  The band made up of local community members will share and play songs of the season.  Some will be spooky and some will be sweet!  And, we highly encourage you all to wear your Halloween costumes at this family-friendly event!

Portland Opera to Go: Hansel and Gretel


On Saturday October 22 at 2:30 p.m., Portland Opera's touring troupe present a live presentation of the Grimm Brother's well known fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel.  This performance will be an adapted 50-minute English-language version of the original 100+ minute German opera by Engelbert Humperdink, which will make for a perfect musical experience for children!

"The Elixir of Love" is a witty, engaging tale of the love-struck Nemorino and the magic elixir that will cure his shyness.  This live performance by the Portland Opera's touring troupe is an adapted, 
50-minute English-language version of the Italian comedic opera.  
It is a perfect opportunity for children to enjoy opera up close and live!

Twin Kennedy Concert

Eric Herman and Puppy Dog Dave Concert

Marimba Concert

Celebrate the Fourth of July early with music and dancing from the popular local 8-woman marimba band Chicamarimba!  Their upbeat blend of African and Latin American sounds will get you on your feet.  Enjoy this outdoor concert in the gazebo behind the library building on Wednesday July 1 at 7:00 p.m.  All ages are welcome to attend.  And bring a chair or blanket from home to sit on!  In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held in the Burgess Community Room.  This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Tigard Library.

AN IRISH CÉILÍ: Concert and Dance

IJenNeh: Beautiful African Music

Soaring vocals, simple melodies and killer bass lines highlight the music of musicians Lasana Kenneh and Jeremy Sauer.  IJenNeh is a tasty mix of African, reggae, pop, and gospel music with roots in Liberia.  This is music that is good for your soul.  Kids through adults are welcome to attend this concert in the Burgess Community Room on Saturday August 2nd at 2 p.m.  The concert will conclude at 3:30 p.m.  this program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Tigard Library.

Jug Band Concert

The How Long Jug Band is a group of musicians who plays vintage blues, jazz, and ragtime music on standard and homemade instruments.  In addition to the jug, the band plays harmonica, banjitar, washboard, washtub bass, mandolin, guitar, and kazoo.  Sound like an interesting blend of instruments doesn't it?  The concert is open to all ages and will be held in the Burgess Community Room on Saturday July 26th at 2 p.m.  The concert is expected to conclude at 3:30 p.m.  This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Tigard Library.

Hawaiian Music & More

It's The Alphabeticians

Dancing With No Shoes On!

Children's musician, Chuck Cheesman will be joining us on Tuesday March 4th at 6:30 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room.  Chuck uses original and familiar songs to get families singing, dancing, wiggling and giggling together.  Dancing in your socks is optional!  A favorite program of both parents and kids.  And why not check out his kids CD, Dancing With no Shoes On before the show?

Oregon Symphony Storytimes

Join us during the month of January as members from the Oregon Symphony will be providing special Symphony Storytimes!  Each story time will feature one of the four instrument families.  Each week an Oregon Symphony musician will add music to the stories that the library picked out just for the special occasion, and an instrument "petting zoo" follows each session.  These story times will replace the previously scheduled Toddler Times on Wednesday mornings.  All sessions will be held in the Burgess Community Room, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

Holiday Handbells Concert

Ring in the holiday season wit the Bells of the Cascades, Oregon's premier community hand bell
ensemble.  They will perform a wide range of hand bell music, including secular, sacred, and popular pieces.  This fun dynamic group transforms age-old bell-ringing traditions into a unique musical event.  This melodious cheer takes place on Tuesday December 17th at 7:30 p.m.  The show is expected to run until 8:30 p.m. and will be held in the Burgess Community Room.  This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Tigard Library.
