See to Read

Did you know that at least 15% of preschoolers have undetected vision issues that need to be corrected with glasses? The Oregon Legislature passed a new law requiring all incoming kindergartners to provide proof of vision screening. See to Read is participating in this statewide initiative by providing free vision screenings in public libraries across the state. OHSU's Elk's Children's Eye Clinic is partnering with the Oregon State Elks, Oregon Library Association and the Oregon Lions to provide this service at the Tigard Library on April 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Come to Family Story Time and stick around afterward for your child's free vision screening.

6th Annual Family Story Time Costume Parade

Join us this Friday, October 30 at 10:15 or 11:15 in the Puett Room for our 6th Annual Family Story Time Costume Parade. We will get together for a regular story time, and then go trick-or-treating around the library after. Don't worry, grown-ups, no candy will be handed out! This is the one story time of the year that I do not limit the number of participants. It would take a pretty mean librarian to turn away a kid in a costume!

Summer of Local Heroes Guest Reader: Timber Joey

This Friday, July 17, our next Family Story Time guest reader is the Portland Timbers' own Timber Joey!!! Because he is in such high demand, he will be reading at the 10:15 session only. After stories, kids will get a chance to ask Timber Joey any questions they want. But don't worry, if you can't make it at 10:15, I'll still hold a story time at 11:15, this time sans Timber Joey. See you in the Community Room!

Annual Story Time Survey

For those of you parents who attend our story times, or wished you could attend, we have a story time survey available, starting today, running through May 22nd.  We are interested in knowing which story times you attend, and if you don't attend any, what dates and times would work for you.  This is just a quick, half sheet survey with a few questions.  You will find it inside the children's room.  All surveys are annonymous.
