I Spy Fly Guy!

Remember when we had the Frog Prince and Pete the Cat hidden in the children's room in the past?  This winter break we have Fly Guy hiding out in the children's room!  From December 17-31, when you come to the library, look around the children's room and see if you can spy where Fly Guy is hiding.  Then check to see what he's reading.  Come to the children's desk and let us know where you found him and what book he is reading that day.  Then claim a little prize!  He'll be in a new hiding spot each day and reading a different book too, so be sure to hunt for him each time you visit until the end of the year!

Life-Sized Games

Missed the last Life-Sized Candyland program? You needn't fret, because it's back, bigger and better than before for International Games Day! Not only will you have the chance to be the playing piece on a giant Candyland game board, but you can also try your hand at Battleship, Hungry Hungry Hippos and Connect Four all in the large scale. And while you're waiting for your turn in the big leagues, play some good ol' regular-sized games.

Operation S.T.E.A.M. Break

Hey, remember this game? Now tweens ages 10-14 can make their own at our Operation S.T.E.A.M. Break program on Wednesday, March 23 from 2-4:30 in the Puett Room. S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science Technology Engineering Art and Math. We'll be using all of those things to design, construct, code and play custom Operation games! No previous coding experience is required. Call 503-718-2656 or stop by the reference desk to sign up.

School's Out Drop-In Monday, February 1st

Bored with nothing to do on a day off from school???  Stop by the library on Monday February 1st for fun in the Puett Room!  We'll have all the fixings for you to get a head start on making your Valentine's Cards.  Plus we'll have board games available so you can play with someone you love!  Stop by anytime between 2 and 4 pm in the Puett Room.  All ages are welcome to attend.

Oregon State v. Oregon

On Friday November 27th, the Beavers will try to avenge last year's loss to the Ducks in this year's 119th Civil War rivalry in Eugene.  Can't make it down to watch the game at Autzen Stadium?  Join us for a big-screen showing of the game, starting with kick-off at 12:30 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room.

International Games Day

On Saturday November 21st, more than 1,000 libraries around the world will celebrate the 8th annual International Games Day @ Your Library.  So bring the whole gang to play it up with board games, card games, and more, 1:30-3:00 p.m. in the Puett Room.  The whole family is invited to come have fun!

Drop-In Fridays, October 9

School's Out on Friday, October 9th!!!  Want something fun to do on a day with no school?  Stop by the  Puett Room for games and projects, from 2 to 4 p.m.  All ages are welcome!

 

Where is Go-Go headed this week?

Here comes Go-Go the super tiger, cruising around town on a scooter. Can you tell where Go-Go is riding? Stop by the children's desk this week and give us the answer. We'll give you a little prize! And tune in every Saturday until the end of the summer for more Go-Go adventures.

I Spy Squared

From Sunday, March 22 to Sunday, March 29 the display cube in the Children's Room will look like a page from the Walter Wick I Spy books. Solve the riddles to find the objects and win a small prize.

Kids who fill in the "challenger" section will enter their names in a drawing for an optical illustions book. 

Ducks Game on the Big Screen

Watch the Oregon Ducks take on the Ohio State Buckeyes for the championship in a family-friendly, alcohol-free environment. We’ll show the game on the library’s big screen and provide light snacks and soft drinks. Kick-off is at 5:30 pm and we’ll keep the party going until the game ends or the library closes at 9 p.m. – whichever comes first!

I Spy Pete the Cat

What is blue, has two pointy ears and says, “It’s all good”? Pete the Cat of course!  He’ll be moving along and singing his song in a new spot every day beginning December 21, 2014 through Sunday January 4, 2015. Your skills of observation will earn you a small prize!

International Games Weekend

Join us Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16th for an all day, all ages event.
Games are taking over the library! Bring your friends or the whole family and play self-service board games and more.

STAR WARS READS DAY!

Two years ago the library celebrated the first ever national STAR WARS READS DAY!  We are super excited that we will be celebrating again and this year it's going to be bigger and better, as this national party has turned into an international celebration!  Join the huge party at the library in the with games, crafts, trivia, prize drawings, giveaways, plus watch The Cone Wars on the big screen!! Also, costumes are encouraged, so come dressed in your favorite Star Wars character.  AND...members of Cloud City Garrison (a legion of dedicated fans wearing film-authentic costumes) will be here dressed as Star Wars characters, so be sure to bring your camera, as there will be lots of photo ops!  The party is open to all ages and is on Saturday October 11, 2-4 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room.

STEAM Saturday (a little late)

There is just something about computer games that kids (and adults) love. Don't you wish there were computer games that helped your child practice her math skills while enjoying a computer game?

Wait no more, I found this website that has all kids of fun games to play that require your child to use the math skills he has learned.

There are some annoying advertisements at the top and to the right on the website, that  look like games too, but if you stick to the Math Playground games area, your child will have lots of fun with math.

June Lego® Construction Zone

Extra, extra, read all about it! The Lego® Construction Zone program is a lot of fun!
On June 22 in the Puett Room, your imagination is the secret to the many possibilities of building.

This all ages program begins at 1:30 p.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. It's located in the Puett Room.

Build cool stuff and make new friends at this monthly program.

Spring Break Scavenger Hunt

This program begins Monday March 24 and continues all week through March 29.

 

How well do you know the library? Rain or Shine, search the Children’s Room and the library grounds at your own pace to find all the items on our list. Pick up a form at the Children’s Desk. Completed forms can be entered into a drawing to be held Sunday, March 30.

 

LEGO Construction Zone for September

Hey there LEGO funs! Join us for the September LEGO Construction Zone at the library. We'll have lots of fun playing with LEGO's. You bring the creativity, we'll supply the LEGO's! Join us in the Puett Room on Sunday September 22nd, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Kids ages 5 & up are welcome to attend!

April LEGO Construction Zone & Robotics
