Magic Show!
Come one, come all, to a magic show filled with wonder, laughs, music, and authentic prestidigitation! You won't believe your eyes as Alexander, Master of Marvels, makes objects appear, vanish, then reappear! Be amazed as he performs the unique and awe-inspiring library trick! It's all happening on Tuesday November 1, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room. All ages are welcome to attend!

Tualatin Valley Community Band Concert
Tualatin Valley Community Band presents "Songs of the Season" on Sunday October 30th, 2016 at 3-4 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room. The band made up of local community members will share and play songs of the season. Some will be spooky and some will be sweet! And, we highly encourage you all to wear your Halloween costumes at this family-friendly event!

7th Annual Family Story Time Costume Parade
Join us this Friday, October 28 at 10:15 or 11:15 in the Puett Room for our annual costume parade in Family Story Time. We will have our regular story time and then trick-or-treat for non-edible treats throughout the library. For this day only, I do not limit how many people come to story time.

Portland Opera to Go: Hansel and Gretel
On Saturday October 22 at 2:30 p.m., Portland Opera's touring troupe present a live presentation of the Grimm Brother's well known fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel. This performance will be an adapted 50-minute English-language version of the original 100+ minute German opera by Engelbert Humperdink, which will make for a perfect musical experience for children!

Lighten Up!
Hey, it’s time to lighten up! Winter is coming…Will your kids be walking and biking in the dark? If they are 10-14, they can join us to customize their backpacks, jackets, bikes, etc. with reflective materials, and create LED accessories to brighten their way. They can even make a jack-o-lantern light! Registration is required, so call 503-718-2656 or stop by the Children’s Reference Desk to sign up.

Annual Used Book Sale
The Friends of the Tigard Library will be having their annual fall used book sale on October 14th through 16th, which will be held in the Burgess Community Room. Stop by for great prices on books, DVD's, music, and more! Proceeds from the sale benefit library programs.
And when you stop by the library between now and October 15th, be sure to go to the Circulation Desk and pick up a coupon worth 50 cents off your purchase during the sale! (Unfortunately, the coupon is not good for the BAG SALE.)

Crank it Up! Moving Sculptures Workshop
Sunday, October 9
1:30-3:00 p.m
*All ages
Join us for some S.T.E.A.M (science, technology, engineering, and math) fun as we experiment with making moving sculptures (automata) using the elements of simple machines. Stick with this challenging project to create a unique piece of art!
*This program is all ages but the automata project may be very challenging for kids under 8. Younger participants can experiment with creating 3 dimensional art using foam shapes and cardboard or work together on an automata project with an older sibling or parent!

On Wednesday October 5 at 7-8:30 p.m., estate planning attorney Michelle-Shari Kruss will discuss how to determine guardianship for minor children and decide who will receive your assets. She will also identify important legal documents to assist your college students with financial and medical decisions. This event is intended for an adult audience.

Super Tuesday Clown Show with Live Animals!
Join us on Tuesday October 4th, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Burgess Community Room as we will be entertained by Eartha The Ecological Clown as she presents "The Magic of Planet Earth"! Eartha is a very unique clown that teaches ecological awareness featuring her Moluccan Cockatto, "Major". There will be other live animals, puppets, and some suprisees in her magical show. All ages are welcome to attend.
