There is a growing collection of picture books for and about gender non-comforming boys. As the mother of a little boy who loves traditionally feminine stuff just as much as, if not more than, traditionally masculine stuff, I have loved sharing these types of books with him. They are also great books to read to kids with more traditional gender identities, as a lesson in tolerance and acceptance of differences.
Try these:
My Princess Boy: A Mom's Story About a Young Boy Who Loves to Dress Up, by Cheryl Kilodavis
10,000 Dresses, by Marcus Ewert
Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress, by Christine Baldacchino
Jacob's New Dress, by Sarah and Ian Hoffman
A friend also recommended a
great article from New York Times Magazine about gender fluidity in boys. I found it very informative.
