2013 is an important year as it marks the anniversary of many very important books that have made a huge impact in the world of children's literature. Here's some books that I bet you didn't know were celebrating some big milestones this year:

- It's the 15th anniversary of the U.S. publication of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (this celebrates the first publication of the British edition)
- Patricia Polacco is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of The Keeping Quilt
- Roald Dahl’s darling 5-year-old genius Matilda is marking her 25th anniversary
- Celebrating its golden 50th anniversary this year is Richard Scarry’s Best Word Book Ever
- Also marking its 50th anniversary this year is Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are which won the 1964 Caldecott Medal.
- Annother golden anniversary goes to Leo Lionni’s beloved Swimmy which received a 1964 Caldecott Honor Award
- It's the 70th anniversary of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
- And finally, Kenneth Grahame’s The Reluctant Dragon will be celebrating its 75th anniversary
